RE: Lexan or plexiglass on my screen door

So I take it the best way to attach it is to screw it to the frame? I`ve been wanting to do this for awhile, but I want to make it easily removeable so I can remove/insatll it a couple of times in a weekend. you know windows open or closed.

RE: They want $5K

Very good, everything you mention is exactly what you should be doing. I agree the rear will most likely be OK for at least a few more trips. so don`t worry about your 1 last trip.
Keep us posted on the outcome!

RE: A message from Mike Schneider, CEO, Affinity

Mike,
About two months ago I renewed my subscription to Trailer Life. In the past month, weeks after my check was cashed, I have received three more identical renewal letters. Someone, somewhere, in some capacity, is failing to purge names from the mailing lists.
This is one of my gripes! my subscription to TL is due in Mar. I`ve been getting renewal notices (Your subscription is about to expire) for the last year, approx. 4 notices. I really wish they would stop crying wolf. I may ignore the notice one to many times and not renew. I not it`s trivial, but it`s a small request that can be taken care of (fixed).
Thanks again for everything and all the info. I`ve learned and given out.

RE: They want $5K

Replacing the carrier bearings and pinion bearings isn`t all that expensive! and it`s very rare that the ring and pinion and carrier will need to be replaced also. the bill shouldn`t be any more than $700 +/- $100.
Take it to the Chevy dealer they will probably be the better bet for a good repair than someplace that doesn`t do them as much. ask the service writer if they have a tech that does them regularly.

Same goes for being around a campfire, around the park pool/beach, hiking trails and even driving to the campground for that matter!

RE: Reese Dual Cam arm bent again!!!

Anyone else notice that it looks as though the WD bar is too wide for the cam arm? either way you need to be watching the bars as someone else turns the truck with the trailer attached.
You`ll find it, just keep an eye open.
Good luck!

RE: My new boat car that I pull COOOOOOL

First anphibious car I've even seen that can actually get up on plane! All the ones I've seen can only wallow along at a few knots.
Don't understand why all the "kids" think that everything posted to YouTube need an obnoxious hiphop background track (Note I didn't use the term "music". Thumping and talking doesn't fit the definition). :R
Would the "old" people rather view the video with a waltz going in the background? :S music is music. people need to realize that there are other people out there than just them. if they don`t like the music then copy the vid and put in a different sound track! sheesh!

RE: which # should we be looking at for weight

Adding a 1000 to the dry weight is a common rule of thumb.
True this is the best way to go. maybe even add 1500lbs to the dry weight. I would not recomend going by the GVWR of the trailer as some have a fairly high Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC). our trailer fo instance has a dry weight of 7100lbs and a GVWR of 11,200lbs! thats a 4100lb CCC quite a bit of weight to be added to get to the GVWR. also be sure to figure about 12% of the figured weight (dry plus 1500) for tongue weight!
Good luck!

RE: Is entry level bad? Any one have a keystone summerland?

Summerland is a good product and should serve you well for many years. The price sounds reasonable also. As far as "entry level" goes, a $500,000 motor home isn't worth a plug nickle if the owner does not take care of it. Take care of your RV with a lot of TLC, don't let anything slip when and if it needs repair, and keep everything in good shape. Expensive or inexpensive, an RV takes work to maintain if you want to keep it nice.
Best advice and comment I`ve read here in a long time! nothing at all wrong with wood frame. $14k for a new bunk house with a slide and a 29ftr.... I`de say go for it.

RE: Just for fun, would you drive a golf ball?

Other than the dimples (which at 180k mi. my 97 Plymouth minivan has) and my aunts 97 Taurus, have that rounded egg shape. I can`t for the life of me figure out why we are going back to "box" shaped cars!!! and trying to get better gas mileage from a brick has never been easy!

RE: Putting a cover on your TT

I have an Addco cover that is on it`s 3rd year! I put it on and take it off myself with no hassle. I pad the corners and all sharp edges. a cover will help keep the trailer looking new, I wax mine before storing and the cover keeps the sides and roof just as clean as the day I washed/waxed it. money well spent ($220 approx.). I also use a 9ft ladder, my trailer is 11.5 feet tall!

RE: cherokee t27v tt pro &con information wanted

Hello. I cannot find that model on Forest Rivers website, forestriverinc.com. I can tell you that we previously had a Cherokee Lite 28A and currently have a Cherokee 32B. we really like the Cherokee brand. great quality and very good attention to detail in a mid level TT. the only problem we have had is with the Concertone stereo in our current trailer. I replaced it with a JVC car radio. if you do a search on Concertone you will find hours of reading. this is the only issue I know of with Forest River products.
We towed the 28A with a 97 1/2 ton Dodge conv. van with a 5.9L and 3.90 gear and it handled the 6500lb loaded trailer just fine (5200lbs dry). we took a 2 week trip out to Glacier NP with that setup and had no problems at all.
You`ll love the Cherokee.
Good luck!
